So did anyone see it? What were your thoughts on the film? I thought it kicked ass and was one of the best I've ever seen. You could really feel the pride the Spartan's carried out many times in the movie, like when the Persian messenger told King Leonidas "this is madness!"... "Madness? This... is SPARTA!!!"

I saw it the day after my birthday. It was kind of repetitive and the slow-motion scenes sort of annoyed me, but otherwise, it was a pretty good film.

Saw it last night. Movie is straight-forward, gets to the point. Overall, good movie. Lots of action. I liked it.

Apparently it's based on a true story. I have read about something similar to this movie happening, but it was not blown out of proportion like this movie did. Like it was an army of 300 against an army of ten thousand or a thousand or sumthing like that, not 1 million.

It's based on the Battle of Thermopylae in which 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians fought to the last man against an overwhelming Persian force (the size of which is debated but the historian Herodotus claims to be in the millions). More info here.

Yeah, but it was first based on a comic by Frank Miller, which is based it on that battle. It wasn't supposed to be historic or accurate, but it was still pretty good.

300 was one of those movies that you don't see to change your life, making it a truly great film. However, it is one of those movies that you should see if you are bored.

Agreed, I thought it was a great movie. I'm by no means a historian but I thought it was surprisingly accurate for being based on a comic book. The basic story at least was intact and I think it did justice to the heroic stand of the Greeks.
@Chilly Ress: I think it had the potential to be a pretty inspirational movie (and was toward the end) but it fell short by focusing so much on the fight scenes. Definitely entertaining but yeah, not so much a "life changer" :P

There were people in front of me with their kids... I could only imagine what was going through the parent's heads when the Captian's son got his head decapitated and his body just stood there headless for like 5 seconds...

It was great! Best movie in a long time. I was really angry and sad when the first Spartan died at the hands of the Immortals >

I liked how this movie stuck close to the original comic book and didnt end up like a lame movie. I 've seen X-men 3 and it didnt live up to the hype and Batman and Robin starring George Clooney was terrible and it almost made me hate batman. The best part of this movie was when young Leonidas kills a wolf with a stick and wears the skin as his coat. future badass

i really liked the movie. i thought it was great just wished that the storyline was better, more Athenians people actually fight instead of 10 seconds worth. o and a little body armor would have been nice.
